A countdown to a holiday looks better with a photo of the beach behind it than with digits on a grey screen. In Todo & Timer you can put your own picture or video behind any full-screen countdown, like the wallpaper on your phone.

Here's what it looks like: a countdown to New Year 2027 in New York, with a fireworks photo behind the numbers.

How to do it

  1. Sign up for free and open Countdowns in your workspace.
  2. Choose New countdown, then Target date. Add a title, the date and the time.
  3. Under Background, choose Picture or Video.
  4. Add your file to the Media library with Upload. Pictures can be PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF; videos MP4 or WebM.
  5. Adjust how it looks with the three sliders below.
  6. Save and open it full screen.

The three sliders:

  • Theme opacity: how much the background shows through the theme.
  • Frosted glass: softens the picture so the digits stay easy to read.
  • Content opacity: fades the logo, title, clock and digits together.

A video plays muted, on a loop.

What it costs

A plain Colour background is free, and works without an account on the countdown page. Picture and video backgrounds live in your account's media library and are part of Plus and Pro.

When time is up

Under When time is up you choose what happens when the moment arrives: a line of text such as "Happy New Year!" for free, or, with Plus and Pro, a full-screen picture, a video, or a web page that every screen goes on to after 5 seconds.

Ideas

  • Birthday or anniversary: a photo of the two of you behind the numbers, and a video message at the end.
  • Wedding: the countdown to the ceremony on the TV at the party.
  • Trip: the hotel or the beach you're heading to.
  • Classroom or study room: the school logo or a calm picture behind the exam countdown.
  • Opening or launch: your brand image on the big screen.

Every screen at once

Every countdown has a share link. Everyone who opens it sees the same second, on a laptop, a phone or a TV, so the whole family or the whole class counts down together.

Want to try it first? On the countdown page you can make a full-screen countdown with a colour and a theme in seconds, without signing up. For your own picture or video, save it to your account with Plus or Pro.
